Our largest collaborative effort with academia brings Tel Aviv University, through its Department for Community Involvement and Student Association, to jointly offer several projects within the sci-tech schools network.
Collaboration with The Dean of Students Office
Thinking Science – Students visit university labs and encounter hi-tech companies through practical, hands-on science and technology clubs and sci-tech learning centers. Participating schools are located in Bnei Brak, Or Yehuda, Rehovot and Bat Yam. The project is coordinated by science and medicine students and doctoral candidates.
Starting Line – A project that enables students from difficult socioeconomic backgrounds to achieve full matriculation with two years of study in a unique Tel Aviv University course for fitness room instructors. We believe that these students, offered help and appropriate training, will complete their studies successfully, obtaining both a matriculation certificate and a vocational diploma. Students attend the university once a week, studying in classes on anatomy and physiology and train in practical sports lessons.
The project is mentored by two Israeli Olympic champions who encourage the students to aspire to excellence.
Center for At-Risk Youth – A pilot project being run at Geula High School in Tel Aviv where university students work with at-risk youth.
Outstanding Students from the Periphery (MASA) – Outstanding students spanning a wide spectrum of disciplines from Israel's periphery, volunteer their time in school education centers at three of the network’s schools in the greater Tel Aviv metropolitan area.
Additional collaborations with Tel Aviv University include Cisco and Citibank -sponsored programs.
Collaboration with the Student Union
Professionalization Project – Tel Aviv University students intern in their fields of study, whether in communications, Jewish Studies or statistics, through activities operated in a range of the network’s schools. They are integrated into sci-tech schools in Ramat Gan and Holon and in system-wide projects run by the network’s administration.
Say “Yes” to Science (Israel’s Ministry of Science and Technology scholarships program) – University students tutor underprivileged students throughout the country in science and technology. Tutoring sessions are operated in network schools in Tel Aviv and Ramat Gan . The program utilizes students from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Oranim College, Haifa University, The Holon College of Technology and Braude College of Engineering in Karmiel.
