Israel’s largest scientific and technological educational network, in cooperation with the Manufacturer’s Association and the Ministry of Education, has initiated a program designed to increase the number of students studying technological subjects in high school. The program aims to redress the lack of technological human resources in the IDF and industry, by creating a link between them and the educational system.
Students gain a deep and comprehensive understanding of Israel’s diverse industrial infrastructure, generating an interest in studying technology in order to gain secure future employment. Each participating school is “adopted” by an industrial company under the auspices of the Industrialists’ Association.
Participating sci-tech schools are twinned with supporting industries, such as spare auto parts manufacturers, factories for aircraft parts production, iron and construction companies, electrical and air-conditioning facilities, electro-optical materials producers and other hi-tech institutions.
Students begin preparing for their matriculation and technician’s diploma in the ninth grade, receiving a full matriculation certificate and a technician’s diploma by twelfth grade.
The Israeli Defense Force, a new and important partner who will participate in the project starting from the 2007-8 school year, will accompany the students until their enlistment, offering individual assistance where needed.
The program enhances the students’ personal potential while building a technological reserve for the IDF and Industry. Outstanding students are offered the opportunity to continue on to Practical Engineering studies.
