Dear Friends,
Education is the most important investment a country can make to assure its strength and stability and the most treasured gift it can give its citizens. Giving Israel's youth a strong education is their birthright and our duty as a nation that proudly sees itself as a light unto other nations.
Ours is a country that has always kept its doors open and a welcome sign out for new immigrants from every corner of the world. In fact, minorities constitute over 20 percent of Israel’s population. For the sake of our social and economic resilience and our future, we must be vigilant about maintaining and cultivating quality education for our children. Our network is determined to lead the way.
With 165 institutions dedicated to science, technology and values, our network is the largest system of its kind in Israel. From Beer Hayil on the Egyptian border in the south to Shlomi, a small town in the north and dozens of towns in between, our schools and colleges offer specialized curricula to meet the particular needs of each community and its children. We offer equal opportunities for all sectors of society – Jews, Arabs, Druze and Bedouin – and provide tools to help new immigrants cope and thrive.
We believe in an educational philosophy that recognizes the uniqueness of each and every student. “Teach each child according to his way,” is how we help assure that each and every student achieves their full capacity.
Our commitment to advancing scientific and technological education is evident in the development and implementation of the most advanced and up-to-date curricula. In collaboration with leading Israeli universities, we have created curricula for biomedical engineering, nano-technology, science and engineering, robotics and aerospace, so that our children can become successful adults and the highly skilled work force Israel needs to be an important global leader.
Our emphasis on scientific and technological education is matched by our commitment to instilling in our students a rich appreciation for ethics and values, teaching our students how to give of themselves to their community and their country, how to respect others' differences and how to embrace humanity.
Developing innovative curricula; creating special study programs for a variety of populations to help them advance and succeed; developing Centers of Excellence and outstanding academic programs; implementing the Legacy-Heritage "From Roots to Fruits" program to strengthen Jewish identity while empowering minority heritages; working with local communities, academia, industry and the Israel Defense Forces – these are the key underpinnings of our strong educational network.
We are grateful to all who have helped us in our efforts - the good people of Israel, our partners at many of the premiere Israeli universities and in the corporate sector, as well as our many friends abroad. Together, we look forward to nurturing our school network, providing tens of thousands of young Israelis with the finest education possible and to ensuring a successful and shining future for the State of Israel.
Sincerely,
Zvi Peleg
Director General
